Individual Family & Group Therapy

At SBHSS, therapeutic services are available for individuals of all ages dealing with a variety of issues. Services are flexible and available by text, email, video, phone, and face to face. Sessions range from 30 to 90 minutes long, depending on the client(s) individual treatment needs. Our specialists are extremely experienced and professional so you be sure to feel right at home.

School Shadowing

With shadowing services, we will be involved in following your child through his or her school day and capturing insights about how to improve the educational experience for them. We will also work with teachers to ensure interventions and guidance needed are provided. Our staff works directly with clients who have learning differences to improve their classroom experience.

Online Counseling 

Speak with a licensed professional while in the comfort of your own home. All sessions are private and confidential. Judgement free and low cost. No need to worry about transportation, work, or school schedule. Contact us today to set up a session with one of our specialist, as sessions are available Monday through Sunday by appointment only. We provide not only individual sessions but also group covering different topics everyone can relate to.

Professional Consultation

SBHSS provides consultation services to educators, mental health providers and early education interventionists to help better serve individuals with special needs or behavioral issues. We conduct school observations, organize teacher and therapist collaboration, generate progress reports and create school-based behavior support plans. Consultation services include workshops and seminars on assessment and intervention techniques, staff training, behavioral observation, and the development of individualized education, treatment program or behavioral plan. We are also available to participate in problem-solving activities to develop the plan for adaptations to the physical environment and program design. SBHSS also provides consultation services to educators, other mental health providers and early education interventionists to help better serve individuals with special needs and behavioral disorders. Consultations may include workshops and seminars on assessments and intervention techniques and staff training, These services are available in English and Spanish.

Program Development

Sunrise Behavioral Health and Support Services is focused on creating a unique program to meet each child's needs and is based on treatment goals that are created to help increase the development across the domain including social, communication, language, cognitive and motor skills. We strive to meet every child's needs using a team approach and communication among staff/caregivers, regularly working directly with your child.  
 

Behavior Analysis Services

At SBHSS, your child will receive 1:1 therapy sessions with our highly experienced and trained behavioral therapists. Sessions will be supervised by a licensed professional behavior analyst. Our fun, play-based therapy sessions are interactive and conducted in our office, at your home, a playground or at school.

Individualized Education Assistance Program

SBHSS works with teachers, school psychologist and other officials in understanding and implementing your child's IEP. In addition, we will attend IEP meetings and other related events pertaining to your child's treatment and progress. Individualized Education Program, is a written document that's developed for each public school child who is eligible for special education.

Behavioral Support Plan

Your child may be exhibiting maladaptive or disruptive behaviors in the home, at school or in the community, or in all three! Instead of a 1:1 behavioral program, your child may need a behavioral plan. This plan will be created based on information gathered through an interview and direct observation and data collected through third parties. A behavior support plan involving manipulation of antecedents and consequences, as well as teaching your child self-regulation techniques, will be presented to the family and other involved parties.

In-School Mental Health Services

Sunrise Behavioral Health And Support Services provides counseling and prevention, and consultation services on-site in South Florida area public schools and Early Learning Centers. Our treatment plans are personalized and oriented to meet our client's needs within a few months. The sooner a child begins treatment, the better the prognosis. We provide observation, preventative care, advocacy, and care coordination for individual students. We also provide consultation, observation, and crisis planning and intervention for teachers and administrators. As well as education for parents, teachers, and staff.

Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention

This program is offered for children aged 18 months to 3 years of age. It is intensive (20–40 hours per week) and offered in the office school, community or at home. Children are taught age and developmentally appropriate language and learning skills. The benefits of teaching intensively at this age is that children have no other school obligations, and negative behaviors are fairly “easy” to stop before they become ingrained.

 

Tutoring (Academic Interventionist)

SBHSS tutoring services are designed to promote academic performance for children of all ages. These services are beneficial for children who are falling behind academically, as well as those who want to prepare for the next year or an upcoming exam. Our tutoring services are focused on assisting children in reaching their full potential in any subject area or grade level. This tutoring service places primary focus on the mastery of academic skills, development of goals and objectives to master, learning organizational skills and time management. Through the use of our individualized plan and  curriculum, our therapists will teach your child the necessary skills to be successful in his/her academic setting.

Social Skills Training

At SBHSS, we offer small, structured, skill-based social skills groups for children ages five and up. Developing a child’s social success will enhance opportunities for successful learning in all activities where social interaction and understanding are critical. Children are placed with other children of similar age and ability and meet twice a week. Each group has no more than four children. (Child will be assessed to determine his/ her level. S/he will be placed in a group based on ability and age).

Preschool Start-Up

Start-up is an office-based, outpatient program for children ages 2–5 years old. The program’s primary goal is to address the core deficits of their diagnosis so that each child may improve upon their communication, social interaction,                self-regulation, and behaviors.

The children participate in predetermined structured activities each day that are based upon the goals defined in their individual treatment plan. The goal is for your child to be ready for an inclusion or mainstream kindergarten program. The child will be assessed to determine the program. This program mimics the environment and structure of a pre-school class. The child- to-staff ratio is two-to-one and the program is held Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 1:00pm. This 4 hour program also affords families the flexibility to enroll their child in other community-based activities or therapy, such as daycare with typically developing peers.

Developmental Assessments

The Developmental Assessment is a service offered to individuals who already have a diagnosis of a special needs or behavioral related disorder from a reputable, qualified provider. The initial assessment is conducted by a behavior analyst and licensed/certified professional. During the appointment, we collect a basic history and conduct an interview and interactive play session. Subsequently, the assessment is used to accurately recommend the appropriate level of services. A program is tailor-made to meet your child’s specific needs. Goals of this program may include reducing challenging behavior, acquiring functional living and social skills, developing verbal and non-verbal communication skills and improving academic readiness.
 

Parent Training

SBHSS works with parents and families to facilitate carryover of skill acquisition and behavioral interventions to promote skill generalization. We are also available to participate in problem-solving activities, to develop the plan for adaptations to the physical environment and program design. All consultation services are specialized to meet varying needs. (These services are available in English and Spanish. Consultation services are available abroad. WHAT ARE WE DOING

As it relates to our region, we are following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health. 

 1. Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds with soap and water

2. Avoid touching face during therapy 

3. Maintain a safe yet effective distance from the children

4. When coughing or sneezing, cover mouth and nose with elbow or tissue - throw tissue away immediately and was hands

5. Limiting services to a maximum of one therapist per two children

6. Beginning to shift the supervisions of therapists to Telehealth visits for applicable insurances 

 
WE ARE INSTRUCTING OUR EMPLOYEES TO FOLLOW GUIDELINES BELOW AS PER CMS.GOV:
Health care providers (HCP) who have signs and symptoms of a respiratory infection, or elevated temperature should not report to work. Any staff that develops such signs and symptoms while on-the-job, should: 

a. Immediately stop work and self-isolate at home for 14 days

b. Inform corporate offices, and include information on individuals, equipment, and locations the person came in contact with

c. Contact and follow the local health department recommendations for next steps

HOW YOU CAN HELP

1.     Maintain a safe, sanitary and designated work area at home during clinical visits. 

2.     If your child or anyone in your home is showing signs and symptoms of a transmissible infection (e.g., dry cough, fever, fatigue, or shortness of breath) you should defer therapy until he or she is no longer potentially infectious (e.g., 24 hours after resolution of fever without medication).
